To research, collect, disseminate and present the highlights of international contemporary art, its modern and contemporary art collection and its founder Rufino Tamayo, to enhance the aesthetic experience and critical sense of the various audiences through research and interpretation of its exhibitions.

To become one of the most important institutions, nationally and internationally, for the exhibition and critical review of the art of the last 50 years through an annual program of activities that provides high quality tools for the audience to visit and enjoy the art practices of our time, the work of its founder and his collection of modern art.
